Dear Colleagues,
This issue of the Journal of Hearing Science is a diverse one. First, I am continuing to review topics related to partial deafness treatment (PDT), and as you will see there is an article by me and my colleagues which puts the spotlight on choosing the best surgical technique for achieving a successful cochlear implant. Next, I especially encourage you to read the stimulating article by A. Bell pointing to parallels between the hearing mechanisms of humans and lizards. Other interesting articles in this issue present results of research related to implantable hearing devices, sound perception, and audiometric techniques. Finally, the issue concludes with wide-ranging reports on some of the major scientific meetings that have been held this year.
