This year 11th European Symposium on Pediatric Cochlear Implantation (ESPCI) took place in Istanbul, Turkey on 23-26 May 2013. Prof. Dr Caglar Batman from Marmara University in Istanbul was the President of the Symposium. Around 1800 scientists from all over the world (from 85 countries) attended. The following scientific fields were represented: otorhinolaryngology, audiology, biomedical engineering, radiology, genetics, psychology, speech therapy. The ESPCI symposia have been held since 1992, every 2-3 years. In 2009 9th ESPCI was organized by the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Warsaw.
During four conference days four satellite symposia (including invited lectures), 16 seminar lectures, 4 plenary lectures, 28 discussion panels/round tables, 12 debates, and around 400 free paper presentations were shown. In addition, almost 700 posters were presented.
